A tantárgy szakmai tartalma: The course describes the manner in which transactions take place over networks, mostly Internet. We will discuss what EC is, how it is being conducted and managed, its major opportunities, limitations, issues and risks. Electronic Commerce is an interdisciplinary topic, and therefore people from many areas (government, education, health services and more) could benefit from learning about it. Major related disciplines are Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Management, Strategic management, Law and Human Resource Management.

As we have started the new century, we witness the growing importance of Internet-based society. Electronic networks will allow people to transcend the barriers of time and distance and take advantage of global markets and business opportunities. Doing business electronically is the newest and perhaps the most promising strategy that companies can pursue. The number of computer applications of electronic commerce is growing rapidly, and can be found today in more and more business. Recently electronic business plays a leading role in competitiveness; hence an e-commerce focused course is an up-to-date and useful part of graduate Business Administration studies.

The course was designed to give an overview of the most important managerial aspects of electronic commerce. Teaching basic technological knowledge or information management foundations are not part of this course, although the short overview of the infrastructure-related and technical issues is necessary. Other undergraduate and graduate information management courses cover most of the areas which are important to understand the basic technical and technology-related managerial issues.

Évközi tanulmányi követelmények: The major part of the classes will be based on individual or group problem solving and lab work. Students have to participate in computer lab work and based on case studies they have to write reports, prepare short assignments (papers with 2-4- pages) during (and after) the classes. Internet exercises and documented class work will be also evaluated.

Vizsgakövetelmény: The midterm and the final exam are written exams each lasting for 60 minutes. Both consist of 10 multiple choice test questions (worth each 1 point) and 4 essay questions (worth each 5 points). Each point equals 1 percent of the final grade.

Félévközi ellenőrzések: Students have to participate in computer lab work and based on case studies they have to write reports, prepare short assignments (papers with 2-4- pages) during (and after) the classes. Internet exercises and documented class work will be also evaluated.

A hallgató egyéni munkával megoldandó feladatai: Students have to prepare assignments (papers with 2-3 pages) for some of the classes, according to the detailed weekly program.
