A tantárgy szakmai tartalma: The aim of the course is to provide comprehensive knowledge on tourism, and enabling students to understand its role in the world economic development. The course offers insights into recent issues, important trends and future scenarios in the global tourism and travel industry, and the world economy development.First, its objective is to analyses the current issues of tourism demand, customer trends in tourism and cross-cultural differences. Secondly, it continues with the discussion ofinternational world tourism and selected problematic issues of developing and well-developed destinations.The course focuses on the challenges, changing circumstances and developments the tourism industry has faced lately.
The learning outcomes of the course is to be able to analyze the key challenges facing tourism, the tourism industry and tourism managers in contemporary context; to understand the importance of tourism in social, cultural, environmental and international context and intercultural issues; to evaluate the appropriateness of responses to the current challenges and opportunities facing the tourism industry.
The course is designed to provide participants the knowledge to respond to a dynamic and fast changing industry. The module will enable participants to identify challenges of the international tourism, and to analyze its current trends.

Évközi tanulmányi követelmények: The students must prepare a home project in form of a presentation during the seminar, and an essay. The home project and its presentation is prepared as a group work, and it has to be 15 minute long. A short essay (800-1000 words) is prepared individually as a report from the field exercise.

3. World economy development and its factors as drivers of international tourism. Tourism policies and programmes, the role of OECD.
A.seminar: Comparison of national tourism results and policies (OECD report).
4. Factors influencing world travel and tourism competitiveness. The Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum.
B.seminar: Comparison of national tourism results and policies (OECD report).
5. The role and competencies of major tourism organizations – UNWTO, ETC, WTTC. International and regional reports and analysis of the tourism sector.
A.seminar: Case studies on tourism impacts.
6. Current issues of tourism: the most popular tourism products – city tourism. Case study of Budapest.
B.seminar: Field exercise.
7. ETC report analysis.

8. Contemporary issues and the latest trends of tourism.

9. Tourism in Europe – receipts, demand, competitiveness and crucial issues.
