A tantárgy szakmai tartalma: The course aims to help the students understanding the similarities and differences among and inside the major regions of our mosaic-like world with economic geographic approach, concepts and tools. The lectures following the chapters of the textbook titled Contemporary World Regional Geography are concerned with the regional differences of wealth and poverty, the use of resources, the production, distribution and consumption of goods, and the flows of labour and capital. The lessons are to introduce the students to a holistic approach calling their attention to the relationship between the world’s environments, landscapes, people and cultures and the geographic pattern of the economic development.

Évközi tanulmányi követelmények: –

Vizsgakövetelmény: Written examination in the final lesson, which contains: theoretical (test) questions about the material of the lectures (70%) and topographical exercise on an outlined map based on a given list of geographical names (30%): recognition of geographical names on an outlined map: 142 (82 European and 60 overseas) cities and their countries.

Az értékelés módszere: The course grade is composed of 100 % written test of the final lesson.

4. Political giant with economic lagging: East Europe (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia)
5. American economic core area: North America (the USA and Canada)
6. Asian economic core area: East Asia (Japan, Korea and China)
7. American semi-periphery: Latin America (Middle and South America)
8. European semi-periphery: the Islamic World (Near East and North Africa)
9. Asian semi-peripheries: Southeast Asia (Newly Industrialized Countries)
10. Periphery with rich resources: North Asia (Ural, Siberia and the Russian Far East)
11. 'Emerging Giant': South Asia (from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean)
12. Lagging periphery: Tropical Africa (West, Central, East and South Africa)
13. Southern economic core area: Australia (with New Zealand, Oceania and Antarctica)
14. A comprehension of the semester: a final written test
