Course description: The course aims to teach international forwarding and logistic processes. It introduces the legal background of service providers, the specifications of transportation and carriage processes, the documents and tariffs, and the economic aspects of the transactions. The course gives an insight to the requirements logistic service providers have to meet, and makes it possible to master the essential knowledge required to organize and execute transportation of goods.

Aims and objectives and description of the course: 1. Basic terms: transportation, forwarding, carriage, logistics. Legal responsibility of the carrier and the forwarder.
2. The mental framework of logistics. Delivery and logistic services. Quality of transportation.
3. Characteristics of logistic services. Carriage. Quality criteria of carriage services.
4. Transportation performance. Cost of transportation. Division of labour in transportation.
5. Forwarding, forwarders’ market. Forwarding documents. FIATA.
6. Transport documents.
7. INCOTERMS
8. Outsourcing logistic services.
9. Role of product characteristics in transportation processes.
10. Creating unit loads. Packaging.
11. Modern transportation methods
12. Freight systems. Groupage.
13. Transportation and carriage costs. Structure of tariffs.
